Six out of every 10 Mexican women over the age of 15 have been the victims of gender violence that has left them with physical and mental traumas, among other ill effects, Mexico’s independent National Human Rights Commission, or CNDH, said

Mexicans, like other Hispanics, are not generally known for their respect for women. In fact, you usually have to go to Islamic countries to find men who have similar levels of contempt for women.

Somehow this reminds me of the "one in four women will experience sexual assault sometime during their lifetimes."

That's another statistic I do not believe (unless you define sexual assault to mean "received unwanted sexual advances or had sexually suggestive language used in their presence").

If the Hispanics in Mexico are anything like their cousins here in NYC then I can easily believe that most Mexican women will experience some sort of gender violence.
