Jewish MP Louise Ellman’s son Sean sold the controversial “legal high” mephedrone – known as “meow meow” – in his chain of drug accessory stores

Sean Ellman, 37, is the son of Labour MP for Liverpool Riverside, and vice-chair of the Labour Friends of Israel. Mr Ellman is said to have sold the drug to a journalist at his shop “Dr Herman’s Salsa Shop” in Warrington, Cheshire. Mr Ellman has other stores in Chester, Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool. Four different variants of the drug were available in the shop. The drug is legally sold as plant food but is illegal for human consumption. Louise Ellman has been a vocal anti-drugs campaigner in the House of Commons, adding her voice to those calling for mephedrone to be banned. Six deaths in the last few months have been linked to the drug. The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs is considering a ban on mephedrone.
